     Heart of the Harvey is an evening of original theater, music, dance, film, prose, and poetry with medical and scientific themes. Founded in 2016 by Bill Rebeck, PhD, MFA, faculty in the Department of Neuroscience at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and Susan Lynskey, from the Department of Performing Arts at the College of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown University, the motto, devised by Susan, remains a permanent fixture:

     Now Directed and Produced by Bill and April E. Brassard, MFA, faculty in the Department of Performing Arts at Georgetown, Heart of the Harvey is named for the Georgetown University Medical Center's W. Proctor Harvey Amphitheater, the construction of which catalyzed the festival's inception. The festival ran from 201-2018, and lay dormant during the pandemic, but Carole Sargent, PhD, director of Georgetown's Office of Scholarly Publications, introduced Bill and April in the summer of 2025. April who had directed and produced a festival of ten minute plays for five years during her time as faculty in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University, and was uniquely suited to take on the task. She and Bill collaborate extensively and joyously!

     This show features original work from the students, faculty, staff, and alumni at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Health, the Berkley School of Nursing, the McDonough School of Business, the Walsh School of Foreign Service, the McCourt School of Public Policy, the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies, and the GMUC, Capitol, and Hilltop Campuses. It is a deeply unifying event filled with empathy, laughter, and love!!!​​
